BTS/A+LUK/BALR Mid-career Lecture Awards

About the awards

The BTS/A+LUK/BALR lecture awards recognise the achievements of mid-career respiratory researchers, delivered in partnership with Asthma + Lung UK (A+LUK) and the British Association for Lung Research (BALR). Two separate awards are given: the BTS/A+LUK Award and the BTS/BALR Award. The winner of each award is invited to give a prestigious lecture as part of the BTS Winter Meeting programme and is presented with their award in the Winter Meeting awards presentation session. Each winner also receives three days' free delegate registration for the Winter Meeting.

Eligibility

The BTS/A+LUK Award is open to BTS members conducting respiratory research. The BTS/BALR Award is open to BTS or BALR members with a primary focus on translational and/or discovery science. Applicants can come from any profession, clinical or non-clinical.

To be eligible, applicants should:

  • have a track record in an area of respiratory research with an upward trajectory
  • be working in a UK host organisation
  • be a member of BTS or BALR
  • be a Postdoctoral Associate (more than 5 years post-doctoral), Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (or an honorary equivalent position, such as MD (Res))
  • be able to demonstrate evidence of research achievement and impact, including publications.

These awards are for mid-career researchers. If you have previously delivered a talk at a BTS Winter Meeting Plenary Symposium, you are not eligible to apply.
