MDR-TB Simulated MDT Case discussion

This one-off educational webinar recreated one of the virtual MDTs run each month as part of the BTS MDR-TB Clinical Advice Service.  The Service offers clinicians facing the most complex TB cases access to expert advice from a group of expert advisors drawn from Respiratory Medicine; Infectious Diseases; Paediatrics; Nursing; Microbiology, Pharmacy and Public Health.

Three cases were discussed in this webinar. Topics covered in the case discussions included:

• MDR-TB treatment principles and drug toxicity management;
• New regimens for MDR-TB treatment;
• MDR-TB in children and in pregnant women;
• Public Health concerns with MDRT-TB cases;
• MDR-TB and other co-morbidities.
