The BTS MDR-TB Clinical Advice Service 2026 Webinar will run from 1pm-2pm on Thursday 15 October. This free, educational webinar was first introduced in 2024 and is now a feature of the Service’s offer.
The MDR-TB Clinical Advice Service offers clinicians facing the most complex TB cases access to consensus and peer advice from expert clinicians drawn from specialties including Respiratory Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Paediatric ID, TB Nursing, Microbiology and Public Health.
For 2026, the webinar will feature new content and learning opportunities around the identification, treatment and management of Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and other complex TB cases.
The format replicates one of the monthly virtual MDTs run by the service and 2 simulated cases will be presented and discussed by a group of our expert advisors.
Topics covered in the case discussions will include learning points around:
- Understanding of the definition of MDR-TB
- Awareness of the epidemiology of MDR-TB in the UK
- Knowledge of the National MDR-TB Clinical Forum and MDT for providing clinical expertise to the management of MDR-TB in the UK
- Knowledge of the specific therapeutic landscape for MDR-TB and differences with standard therapeutic regimens used for drug-sensitive TB
- An overview of some of the clinical challenges associated with treatment of MDR-TB as presented in a case-based format on the webinar
Questions will be taken at the end.
This webinar is open to all NHS professionals but of particular interest to the following:
- Trainee doctors from Respiratory, ID, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Public Health
- All roles with an interest in treatment of MDR-TB cases
