Help shape the future of respiratory medicine for the Winter Meeting 2027
Respiratory medicine is evolving rapidly. Advances in disease biology, emerging technologies, new treatments and changing models of care are challenging established thinking and opening new opportunities to improve respiratory health.
The theme for the BTS Winter Meeting 2027 is Rethinking Respiratory Medicine: New thinking. New science. New possibilities.
For the first time, scientific symposium submissions are open to all BTS members. We welcome ideas from across the respiratory community that bring fresh perspectives, showcase innovative science and encourage collaboration beyond traditional disease boundaries.
We particularly welcome proposals that challenge established assumptions, highlight emerging discoveries, explore new approaches to prevention, diagnosis or treatment, or consider how respiratory research and care might evolve.
What we're looking for
Proposals might explore:
- New thinking: Which established concepts, disease classifications or approaches to respiratory health should we reconsider?
- New science: Which emerging discoveries, mechanisms, technologies or experimental approaches could reshape our understanding of respiratory disease?
- New possibilities: How could scientific advances lead to better prevention, earlier diagnosis, more effective treatments, improved outcomes or new models of care?
Who we want to hear from
We welcome proposals spanning basic discovery, translational and clinical research, population health, and multidisciplinary science. Contributions from early-career researchers and collaborations across specialties and disciplines are encouraged.
What makes a strong proposal
The theme is intended to inspire, not restrict. Proposals do not need to cover all three elements, and outstanding scientific ideas that sit outside the theme will still be considered.
Above all, we are seeking scientifically rigorous, original and thought-provoking symposia that stimulate discussion, challenge current practice and help shape the future of respiratory medicine.
