BTS/A+LUK/BALR Mid-career Lecture Awards

The BTS/A+LUK/BALR lecture awards recognise the achievements of mid-career respiratory researchers. Eligible mid-career researchers can come from any profession (clinical and non-clinical) and will have a track record in respiratory with an upward career trajectory and be based at a UK host organisation. The selected winners will be offered 3 days delegate registration for the 2026 Winter Meeting and will be presented with an award at the Awards Presentation Session on Wednesday 25 November. The winners will also be invited to give a prestigious lecture at the Winter Meeting on Thursday 26 November.  

The BTS/A+LUK Award is open to BTS members conducting respiratory research.  

The BTS/BALR Award is open to BTS or BALR members with a primary focus on translational and/or discovery science.  

Eligibility criteria 

  • Applicants should have a track record in an area of respiratory research with an upward trajectory. 
  • Be working in a UK host organisation.  
  • Be a member of BTS or BALR. 
  • Be a Postdoctoral Associate (>5yrs postdoctoral position), Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (or honorary equivalent positions e.g. MD (Res)).   
  • Demonstratable evidence of research impact and achievement (including publications). 

The BTS/A+LUK/BALR lecture awards are for mid-career researchers: if you have previously delivered a talk at a BTS Winter Meeting Plenary Symposium, you are not eligible to apply for these awards.
