Call for co-chairs and group members: BTS/SIGN Guideline on Severe Asthma
Join the Guideline Development Group

BTS and the Scottish Intercollegiate Guideline Network (SIGN) will be working together to produce a new guideline on severe asthma.
We are pleased to invite applications for co-chairs and members of the Guideline Development Group, which will produce this new BTS/SIGN Guideline. The co-chairs will lead the group with support from SIGN, following the process set out in the SIGN 50 Guideline Production Manual.

Co-chairs
Applicants for the role of co-chair should have a track record of clinical experience and research in this topic area. One co-chair will be based in Scotland, and the second co-chair will be based in England, Wales or Northern Ireland. Applicants should be BTS members.
To apply for a co-chair position, please submit a short CV and a statement outlining your reasons for wishing to take on the role, as well as the skills and expertise you would bring. Please include any previous involvement in guideline development.
Applicants will be asked to disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and appropriate management of conflicts of interest will be taken into account in the development of the guideline panel, including the selection of the chair.
Shortlisted applicants for the role of co-chair will be invited to participate in a short online interview.

Group members
We invite applications from consultant physicians, specialty trainees, nurses, pharmacists and healthcare scientists to join the Guideline Development Group. Applicants should be BTS or BPRS members. To apply, please submit a short CV and a statement outlining your reasons for wishing to join the group and what skills and expertise you would bring.

- Co-chair and group member applications open: 9 April – 6 May 2026
- Co-chair interviews: 1 and 2 June 2026
- Group members selected by co-chairs: 4 – 10 June 2026
- First meeting of Guideline Development Group: July 2026
Applicants will also be asked to complete a Declaration of Interest form following the closing date for applications.
