The BTS Lay Trustee helps the Society ensure that the voices of public and patients are always embedded in and central to all our work.
Mr Kalugarama has a wealth of personal and professional experience of health and social care services, having been a member of a number of boards and committees within the NHS and the charitable sector, collaborating in his work with professional healthcare organisations. He is currently a Senior Lead for Inclusion in NHS England’s national people team and Board Member of the nationality charity the LGBT Foundation.
On a personal level, his strong interest in representing the voice of patients and carers, particularly around the respiratory specialty, has its roots in his role as a carer for his mother, a COPD patient, and in the frequent interactions he had with respiratory services in the past, due to two family members having passed from lung cancer.
Jason brings a wide range of skills to the BTS Board of Trustees from his current and past positions, and will be an asset to the Society when developing governance, setting strategic objectives and in supporting our work on equalities, health and social policy.
