Call for group members: BTS Quality Standard on Tobacco Dependency

BTS Quality Standard for medical management of inpatients with tobacco dependency

Application deadline: 5pm, Monday 20 April 2026.

Apply here

In March 2024, BTS published a Clinical Statement on medical management of inpatient tobacco dependency, which provides a practical framework that clinicians can apply to help inpatients manage their tobacco dependence. Building on this, we have commissioned a Quality Standard in this topic area for 2026 and we are now inviting applications to be a member of the Quality Standard development group.

BTS Quality Standards set out a number of concise and measurable quality statements, derived from the best available evidence that, when implemented, will help improve the quality of care across a clinical pathway or disease area.

We are inviting applications from BTS members to join the group that will produce this Quality Standard on Tobacco Dependency. Successful applicants will join Professor Sanjay Agrawal and Professor Matthew Evison, who co-chaired the Clinical Statement group, and will chair the Quality Standard development group.

If you would like to apply, please submit a short CV and a statement outlining your reasons for wishing to join the group and what skills and expertise you would bring.  We welcome applications from consultant physicians, specialty trainees, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Applicants should be BTS members.

Queries should be addressed to:  Miguel Souto, BTS Head of Clinical Programmes: miguel.souto@brit-thoracic.org.uk
