RESPIRATORY CODING AND TARIFF UPDATE 2017/ 2018
Dr Martin Allen is the BTS lead for matters relating to the coding of respiratory care. He liaises regularly with NHSE and his Guide to changes in tariffs and the coding of respiratory health care for 2017-18 is now available to download here
It provides useful background to the revision of Respiratory Healthcare Resource Groups (HRGs) as well as practical advice on coding respiratory activity; some observations about recent probloesm in relation to interpretation, and a brief look to the future.
ATLAS OF VARIATION
Produced by RightCare in partnership with a number of organisations, the Atlas of Variation in Healthcare for People with Respiratory Disease reveals the extent of variation in clinical activity and outcomes for people with respiratory disease. Looking at local data underlines the substantial scope clinicians and commissioners have to improve those outcomes.
INHALE was developed by Quality Intelligence East, the Department of Health and leading clinicians. The project aimed to help commissioners assess the impact of respiratory disease on local populations, consider variation and identify the services required to meet those needs. INHALE was the first single source of shared, accessible, actionable data on respiratory disease.
