Dr Jon Bennett is a Consultant Respiratory and General Medicine Physician and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Glenfield Hospital UHL NHS Trust in Leicester.
At Leicester, Jon has served as service lead for Lung Cancer, and also lead for Bronchoscopy and interventional procedures, facilitating many service improvements during those years. He was a Royal College Tutor for 9 years and undergraduate education co-Lead for Cardio-Respiratory Medicine for 8 years. He continues as Regional Speciality Adviser, RCP London PACES examiner, University of Leicester IPE and Finals examiner, and the Departmental Medical Education Clinical Tutor
Jon has a long history of service to the Society. He has been a member of the Tobacco Committee, BTS Council and the Professional & Organisation Standards Committee. The latter became the Quality Improvement Committee, which Jon chaired between 2015 and 2018. In this role, and as a BTS Trustee for the last 3 years he has contributed to developing the Society’s strategy to integrate quality improvement into the core business of education, Guidelines, Quality Standards and Audit.
He was a member of, and then chaired, the Society’s Interventional Procedures Advisory Group, during which time he led on the development of the Society’s Quality Standards for Bronchoscopy based upon the BTS Bronchoscopy Guidelines and he also wrote and submitted the BTS national Bronchoscopy Audit Tool. Jon is also currently a Topic Specific Expert on the NICE-AME Guideline Group.
