The NHS turning 70 provides us with a great opportunity to celebrate the contribution all our specialty and our members make to the lives of people with respiratory disease.    You will find reminiscences on these pages about influential individuals and major contributions to the NHS as well as reflections on the speciality today.  The influence of Dame Margaret Turner-Warwick, Sir John Crofton and Dr Martin McNicol live on in BTS Head Office with our meeting rooms named after them to commemorate their enormous contributions to patient care and respiratory clinical and scientific advances.

We have shared video clips and quotes from some of our members about what drew them to respiratory medicine, what inspires them, and indeed why respiratory is a special place to work.
