This course is facilitated by Dr Jack Kastelik, Consultant in Respiratory and GIM and Professor Mahmoud Loubani, Honorary Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery/Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon.

This is a one day course and is suitable for Respiratory, Cardio thoracic, Anaesthetist and Acute trainees.  It is a mixture of theory and hands on training to understand how to perform a rigid and flexible bronchoscopy, EBUS , complications, indications, alternatives and pathology recognition.  This includes 1:1 training with an experience Consultant on high and low fidelity simulators.  The course cost is £300 per trainee.

Antrim chest drain insertion and safety course 2018102020 Oct 2018 Antrim Hospital, Northern Ireland

This course has been organised by Dr Izhaq Masih and Dr Ronan Donnelly for trainees of all levels, specialty doctors and consultants in the fields of respiratory, acute medicine, emergency medicine, intensive care and anaesthetics. The programme is designed to give a hands on experience of chest drain insertion with safety. This encompasses the British Thoracic Society (BTS) guidelines of chest drain insertion in various clinical situations and deals with the important issues of post-chest drain insertion care. State of the art mannequins will be used to practice Seldinger, pig-tail and surgical drain techniques. Multimedia educational resources including audios, videos, simulations and animations along with didactic lectures will be used to clarify the core concepts of chest drain insertion and safety. The course is led by experienced respiratory physicians with special interest in pleural disease and thoracic ultrasound.

Six CPD points from the Royal College of Physicians have been applied for.
