This course is facilitated by Dr Jack Kastelik, Consultant in Respiratory and GIM and Professor Mahmoud Loubani, Honorary Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery/Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon.

This is a one day course and is suitable for Respiratory, Cardio thoracic, Anaesthetist and Acute trainees.  It is a mixture of theory and hands on training to understand how to perform a rigid and flexible bronchoscopy, EBUS, complications, indications, alternatives and pathology recognition.  This includes 1:1 training with an experience Consultant on high and low fidelity simulators. The course cost is £300 per trainee.

Chest Drain Course 2019102222 Oct 2019 Kettering

Course organised by Dr Nasir Siddique and colleagues. This is a one day course aimed all grades. It covers safety issues, pre-procedural assessments, role of radiology in insertion of chest drains safely and how to deal with complications. Video demonstrations will be given before hands on experience workshops on state of the art mannequins. These will be in the form of small groups.

Antrim Thoracic Ultrasound Course 2019051717 May 2019 Northern Ireland

Dr Izhaq Masih and Dr Ronan Donnelly have organised an ultrasound course for doctors of all grades in respiratory, emergency, acute medicine and intensive care medicine to achieve ultrasound level 1 certificate. This one-day course is designed to cover the topics of ultrasound physics, knobology, anatomy and disease patterns through lectures and hands-on practice under the supervision of experienced ultrasound lecturers and teachers. Practice opportunities include ultrasound on patients and phantom. Those who aspire to train at level 2 and beyond in chest ultrasound can learn basic techniques of lymph node aspiration and biopsy. Due to limited places, we advise early booking. Six CPD points from the Royal College of Physicians have been applied.
