Chair of the BTS Education and Training Committee - call for applications

BTS invites applications for the position of chair of the Education and Training Committee .  This role has a 3 year tenure to December 2022, and the successful candidate will become a Trustee of the Society serving on the BTS Board.

The Committee is responsible for:

- development of the programme for the Society’s Summer Meetings;
- developing the programme and identification of course leaders for the Society’s annual short courses programme;
- developing the Society’s involvement in new educational opportunities in the most appropriate forum - this includes the development of e-Learning tools.

A copy of the Committee’s constitution is available here.

The successful candidate will have experience in medical education and training.  It is essential that the Chair takes the lead in providing a supportive framework for this core strand of BTS business.  This is a key position, which, in addition to attendance at 4 meetings per year and associated reading, involves representing BTS on the Respiratory SAC and at other meetings as required.

Applications, which should include a brief statement outlining suitability for the role, plus a short CV (2-3 pages) should be sent to sheila.edwards@brit-thoracic.org.uk by midday on Friday 24 May 2019.  The current Chair of the Committee, Dr John Park, would be happy to speak to interested candidates - please contact Sheila Edwards in the first instance.  Interviews will be conducted (either by telephone or in person) before the end of May if possible.
