BTS Guideline for Pulmonary Rehabilitation - call for co-chairs of the Guideline Development Group
We have commissioned a new Guideline on Pulmonary Rehabilitation, with work starting later in 2019. The first stage is to invite applications from individuals for the role of co-chairs of the Guideline Development Group (GDG) who will lead the Group's work with support from BTS Head Office and the Standards of Care Committee (SOCC). Co-chairs MUST be BTS members, and at least one will have direct experience of GRADE guideline production methodology. The BTS Guideline Production Manual is available here.
Candidates for the co-chair positions can apply either jointly or individually. This should comprise a statement outlining the reasons for wishing to take on the role of co-chair of the GDG and also a brief statement about the skills and expertise the applicant would bring, including reference to any previous involvement in guideline development. A short CV from each candidate should also be included.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in a short telephone interview.
A more detailed role description is available here and includes the requirement for the co-chairs to attend 3 SOCC meetings - once at the start of the process; again after approximately 12 months; and then to present the draft guideline to the Committee before the public consultation process.
One of the first tasks for the successful appointees will be the production of a detailed scope for the new Guideline. The co-chairs will then be closely involved in the recruitment and selection of members of the GDG, with advertising, selection and appointment processes being managed through BTS Head Office.
