Public, Patient and Carer involvement: January 2019 vacancies
As a Society we have a strong commitment to involving members of the public, patient and carers across the full range of our activities. We seek to secure lay input to some of our key Committees and Guidelines and Quality Standard groups, and we believe that our outputs are stronger as a result. We are currently seeking to appoint members to the following:

We are able to provide some training and support via staff at BTS head office. We also have a lay Trustee - a member of the BTS Board- who is available to advise and support. There are likely to be at least three meetings of the first two Committtees mentioned, and at least two of the Advisory Group, during 2019. Some work may also be carried out by teleconference and/or email. We have accessible offices in central London and will reimburse travel expenses,including, for assistants/companions if necessary
It would be helpful to indicate in your application whether you have had any experience of related work in a health or related setting; and what you feel you can bring to the work of your selected Committee/Group. Although we have had lay and patient involvement in many of our activities over the last 10 years, we feel we are still learning about how best to do this, and any observations and experiences you can include in your application would also be helpful. It is NOT necessary to be able to understand complex medical jargon! It IS important that you feel you can help us plan and deliver what makes sense to patients and the general public as far as lung health (treatment and delivery of care) is concerned.
