Summer Meeting 2010

Dates: Thursday 24 and Friday 25 June 2010
Venue: University Place, University of Manchester

Dr Craig Davidson Chair of the BTS Education and Training Committee, writes:-

The BTS 2010 Summer Meeting is returning to Manchester but to a different venue.  University Place is a new building on the University Oxford Road campus which opened in 2008. This is a really excellent facility.

We have changed our format in response to feedback and have introduced two ‘mini short courses’. Both Cystic Fibrosis and Critical Care are core areas of the curriculum for trainees but are also areas of interest to consultants, therapy and nursing members. If this format is successful we will include other “core areas” in future programmes.     We also incude a range of excellent "stand-alone" symposia and retain the two keynote lectures delivered by experts and used to highlight topical issues. There will be the usual radiology and physiology quizzes.

I am sure the programme will contain plenty to interest everyone and satisfy the needs of all BTS members. Remember the Summer Meeting is a great place for informal discussion and networking without some of the time pressures of the Winter Meeting. It is also a great place for team building so, if you are a team leader, go on and invite the workers! We will again hold the President’s Reception in the conference centre after the day’s programme on Thursday 24 June.   All attendees are warmly invited.

So please consider coming and bringing some team members. Let’s make this year’s Meeting in Manchester the best attended and most useful Summer Meeting ever!
