The Society's Staff

The Society currently has 8 members of  staff and a number of other associates who are not based at BTS head office. The members of staff at headquarters who deal with the day-to-day running of the Society, are:

Sheila Edwards - Chief Executive
Sheila is the main link to the Trustees and carries lead responsibility in the team for resource management, external communications, strategy and development work.

Sally Welham - Deputy Chief Executive
As well as acting as the main support to the Chair and Chief Executive for Trustee and Council-related business, Sally takes the lead within head office for working with Guideline groups and support for the work of the Standards of Care Committee, and liaison with NICE and SIGN. She is also responsible for supporting the work of the BTS Nominations Committee (including clinical excellence awards) and for specific projects including, the development of the new BTS audit system.

Angela Hurlstone - Professional Relations Manager
The Society provides support for some aspects of the work of ARNS (the Association of Respiratory Nurse Specialists) and ACPRC (the Association of Respiratory Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care).  Angela is the main point of contact for both of these. She also provides support for the UK Respiratory Research Collaborative and IMPRESS (Improving and Integrating Respiratory Services in the NHS). Angela supports the work of the Specialty Workforce Committee and the Professional and Organisational Standards Committee.

Joan Thompson - Support Services Manager
Joan is responsible for financial and membership administration, general  office administration and supplies.  A significant part of Joan's work is membership-related.  She maintains the membership database, including processing applications for membership and liaison with Thorax. Please let her know of any changes of address, problems with receipt of Thorax and routine membership enquiries.

Andi Morgan - Support Services Assistant
Andi is the main contact for short course delegates. He processes delegate bookings for the Summer and Winter meetings, membership applications for BASSP, ACPRC and ARNS, and assists Joan with the main BTS membership database.

Chris Routh - Strategy and Communications Assistant  
A member of the strategy and communications team at head office Chris is the first point of call for general queries.  He has responsibility for updating internal and external information (including the website and BTS News) and has responsibility for administration of audit and data collection as these develop.  He also currently acts as the designer for BTS News and other print-related activities for BTS, BASSP, ARNS and ACPRC.

Kerry Reid - IT Support Manager
Kerry is responsible for the smooth running of all that is IT; the maintenance of our computers and software, including the ever-expanding membership database. He is developing the data collection and audit tools in liasion with our programmers.  Kerry is the  key developer of our website as we continue to expand as an organisation.

Cathryn Stokes - Conference Secretariat
The detailed work in relation to organising and managing the Society's Winter and Summer Meetings, including liaison with venues and related services, speakers and exhibitors, lies with Cathryn.

Louise Preston - TB Clinical Advice Network & BASSP Project Manager
Louise is the project manager of the recently-formed BASSP - The British Association for Stop Smoking Practitioners.  She also assists with the TB Clinical Advice Network.

Jackie Ford - Short Courses Manager
Jackie is responsible for the organisation and management of BTS Short Courses, liaising with the Education Committee, speakers and venues.
