The British Thoracic Society is pleased to announce this two-day course on Intensive Care and Respiratory Medicine. The course has again been organised by Dr Craig Davidson, Consultant in Respiratory & Intensive Care Medicine, Guy's & St Thomas' Foundation Trust, London.
The aims of the course are to review recent developments in critical care relevant to respiratory medicine and to provide an overview of resuscitation, mechanical ventilation and inotropic support.
There will also be case presentations to illustrate common respiratory consults in the ICU and the opportunity to consider admission criteria, critical care organisation and training in ICM.
The following learning objectives will be met:
- how to assess need for ICU admission
- how to get the best from your ICU
- what are the limits of NIV
- what is the role of different ventilatory modes
- how to care for the ICU step down patient
- weaning, rehabilitation & tracheostomy
- end of life care
The course is aimed at respiratory medicine consultants and trainees, trainess in acute medicine and nursing & therapy staff involved in emergency medicine.
