General Information for Patients

Information for patients is available by accessing the Clinical Information topics from the menu on the left. The patient information pages provide brief outlines of the major respiratory diseases and are written in a style which we hope will be easy to understand. We do not aim to duplicate more detailed information which is available elsewhere and we indicate web sites and publications where more information is available. You can gain access to these pages via the Links button on the home page of our site. In this section we provide links to patient support groups, particularly for the more rare lung conditions. You may also find the Charing Cross Hospital Lung Glossary useful.

Please note, however, that we cannot give medical advice on individual cases, nor can we recommend individual specialists.  General Practitioners will know those Respiratory Specialists who are available to see patients in their area and will refer patients to them when necessary. You should therefore speak to your GP or practice nurse if you need advice on any respiratory problem.
