Statement on the Minimum Standards for Training for Stop Smoking Practitioners
BASSP is committed to raising the profile of smoking cessation as a profession. A vital part of this is ensuring training undertaken by practitioners is appropriate and well delivered. We have drafted a Statement on the Minimum Standards for Training for Stop Smoking Practitioners which will underpin much of our future activities. There are two sections; one covering brief intervention, the other specialist training. This document will be launched at our second National Conference (2 October 2008). BASSP is proud to have developed this statement collaboratively; all BASSP members were offered the opportunity to comment and a consultation process was undertaken with relevant stakeholder organisations.

Delegates at our 2008 conference will have the chance to discuss the next steps for BASSP in detail. If you are unable to attend this event, we are still very interested to hear from you. Please use our online forum to tell us how you think the training statement can be best used to encourage quality training and support the profile of the profession.
